  1. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios          


The fully-loaded AT and MT variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios now come standard with six airbags across the entire range. Additionally, features such as a three-point seatbelt for the rear-center occupant, TPMS, seatbelt warning, and an ISOFIX child-seat mounting point have been incorporated. While the Grand i10 Nios previously received a two-star rating on the GNCAP in its last test, it is anticipated that this rating will improve with the inclusion of six airbags in the current model.

2: Tata Punch - 5/5 stars        


In the Global NCAP crash tests, the Tata Punch received a score of 16.45 out of 17, which translates to a 5-star safety rating for adult occupants. This makes it the highest-scoring car currently available for sale in India. In terms of child safety, the SUV received a 4-star rating. The body shell of the Punch was found to be 'stable' and capable of withstanding additional force.

The standard safety features of the Punch include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, brake sway control, seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The starting price for the Punch range is Rs 5.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

3: Mahindra XUV300 - 5/5 stars



The Mahindra XUV300 has received high safety ratings in crash tests conducted by Global NCAP. It achieved a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection. The car's structure and footwell remained stable during the crash, and it provided good protection for the head, neck, and knees of adult occupants. The chest protection for the front passenger was also rated as good, but it was rated as adequate for the driver.

Standard safety features in the Mahindra XUV300 include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control, disc brakes for all four wheels, front seatbelt reminder system, front seatbelt pretensioners, and a passenger airbag deactivation switch. The top-spec W8 (O) variant offers additional safety features such as six airbags, front parking sensors, heated outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), seatbelt reminders for all passengers, and a three-point seatbelt for the middle-seat passenger.

The starting price for the XUV300 model range is Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

4: Tata Altroz - 5/5 stars 

Tata Altroz is a car that shares the same platform as the Punch. It's currently the highest-rated premium hatchback in the Indian market according to the Global NCAP (GNCAP). The Altroz received a high score for protecting adults in the car, but it didn't score as well for protecting children. 

The car comes with standard safety features like airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminders, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. The higher-end versions have additional features such as adjustable front seat belts, a rear parking camera, and front and rear fog lamps. The starting price for the Altroz is Rs 6 lakh in Delhi.


5: Tata Nexon - 5/5 stars 


 Tata Nexon, a compact SUV made in India. It highlights that the Nexon was the first Indian-made car to receive a full 5-star safety rating from the global NCAP. Initially, it received a 4-star rating, but after some upgrades by the carmaker, it was retested and achieved the highest 5-star rating for adult protection. The child occupant protection rating is three stars. It's noted that the model that received the 5-star rating was the pre-facelift version, and the current model has been further upgraded to meet pedestrian protection norms. Additionally, all variants of the Tata Nexon come with two airbags, ABS, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard. The starting price for the Nexon is Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
