King of car Rolls-Royce Spectre to be launched in India on 19 January, 2024

King of car Rolls-Royce, a well-known luxury car manufacturer, is planning to enter the Indian electric vehicle market with the launch of its first electric vehicle, the Spectre, on January 19, 2024. This announcement comes after the delivery of the first Spectre unit in Chennai in November 2023. The Spectre is positioned between Rolls-Royce's iconic Phantom and Ghost models and is expected to be priced between ₹7-9 crore, excluding taxes and other charges.

In simpler terms, the Spectre is a new model from Rolls-Royce that is different from their other cars. Instead of using a traditional V12 engine, it will have an electric motor on each wheel, making it a powerful 4-wheel drive vehicle. The car will have a strong electric drivetrain with 430 kilowatts of power and 900 newton meters of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.4 seconds. It can travel up to 323 miles (520 kilometers) on a single charge and has a power consumption rate of 2.9 miles per kilowatt-hour (21.5 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers) thanks to its large 102 kilowatt-hour battery pack. Overall, the Spectre demonstrates impressive electric capabilities.

The outside appearance of the Spectre is impressive, with the widest Rolls-Royce grille ever made. The grille is lit up by 22 LEDs and is called the "Pantheon grille," highlighting the car's electric power. The "Spirit of Ecstasy" ornament has been changed to improve aerodynamics, with narrower wings, helping the car achieve a drag coefficient of 0.25cd. This makes the Spectre the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce car so far.

Interior

In simpler terms, Rolls-Royce has made the Spectre car highly customizable, especially with its interior design. The front seats are inspired by British tailoring and can be personalized with different colors and details. The car can also be equipped with Starlight Doors, which have thousands of small lights, a feature that has never been seen in a standard Rolls-Royce before.

Rolls-Royce has fully embraced the idea of customization with the Spectre. They offer a wide range of unique options for the interior, known as Bespoke options. For example, the design of the front seats is inspired by British tailoring, allowing for personalized details such as lapel parts in different colors that either contrast or match each other. Additionally, the Spectre can be fitted with Starlight Doors, which have 4,796 softly illuminated 'stars' embedded in them. This is the first time such a feature has been available on a Rolls-Royce car that is part of their standard production series.

The Spectre also introduces SPIRIT, a system that controls the car's functions and connects with a mobile app called Whispers. This allows owners to interact with their car from a distance and get real-time information from luxury experts. The car's suspension system, called Planar, has been improved to provide a very smooth and comfortable ride, despite the car's heavy weight.

Rolls-Royce plans to make all of its products electric by the end of 2030, which is a big change for the company in terms of the technology they use in their cars.

The EV motor, power, and performance

Spectre include a dual-motor electric powertrain with 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the 6559-pound coupe to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. While some may compare this to the Tesla Model S Plaid's faster acceleration, Rolls-Royce prioritizes quiet cruising over mind-bending performance. The Spectre features adaptive suspension for a smooth ride and ample sound-deadening material for a whisper-quiet cabin. At speeds below 80 mph, the car is nearly silent inside, with minimal wind noise.

Charging capabilities, and battery

Spectre, a vehicle. It mentions that the Spectre has a 102.0-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, which is borrowed from the BMW i7. With 23-inch wheels, the estimated driving range on a single charge is up to 266 miles. If the car is equipped with smaller 22-inch wheels, the range estimate increases to as much as 291 miles per charge. The vehicle also has standard DC fast-charging capabilities. Additionally, the passage humorously suggests that most Spectre buyers will likely have a charging system installed at their homes so they don't have to wait around at public charging stations like others might.
